Critical Access Hospitals are generally small rural hospitals that tend to use and/or be otherwise associated with various non-physician practitioners. Non-physician practitioners are also used in Rural Health Clinics which are often associated with CAHs. Additionally, there tends to be a heavy reliance on other non-physician providers including nursing staff at various levels.
